Celebration Time
Celebration time. A time to remember. Ascension Health Homes residents and staff gathered for an enjoyable afternoon of delicious food and super fun to celebrate 4th of July 2018.
Our Celebration Time
Picnic, pool and great company. The perfect trifecta for a hot, breezy sunny holiday. A lazy day best spent in the shade or cool water with an iced drink. As the group played in the pool or relaxed after eating plentiful plates of food, the pleasant conversation turned towards a reflection of what makes 4th of July great.
Reflections
Why celebrate? Why does the 4th matter? The experiences of each person framed their responses. “Family time, marshmallow salad and barbeque pork sandwiches.” some commented. “Fireworks and parades.” others said. The dialogue seemed common to what most would say.
Others were more thought-filled. “I am thankful at my age that I can still appreciate this holiday. So many soldiers gave their lives for our freedom. My Uncle Ray lost his arm fighting for us.” Helen’s voice crackled from emotion as she reminisced over the sacrifices made over her 91 years of age.
“Independence Day makes me think about the soldiers that fought for our freedom.” Shannon, our hometown hero responded. “I’m glad that I can live in a free country.” Barb contributed.
Our day naturally ended as it transitioned from celebration time to “it feels like nap time”. We look forward to next year’s party!
